Daniel Bryan refused to work WWE Crown Jewel over the weekend. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter revealed there were several reasons for this. It was noted that one of those reasons was not the fact that women were not allowed to compete on the card. Instead, it was because he learned of Saudi Arabia’s treatment of homosexuals. He also was informed Sami Zayn wasn’t allowed to compete in Saudi Arabia due to his Syrian descent, which Bryan felt was racist.
That was all Bryan needed to hear to pull out of the card. He was initially scheduled to face AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at Crown Jewel. Instead, that match happened on SmackDown Live this past Tuesday. Samoa Joe would replace Bryan in Saudi Arabia against Styles.
PWInsider is reporting that Bryan will be traveling to perform in WWE’s European tour this week. He only refused to work Crown Jewel, and will continue to fulfill the rest of his obligations as normal.
