New WWE Universal Champion crowned at Crown Jewel

Earlier this morning WWE held its special Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia. The vacant WWE Universal Championship was on the line between Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman at the event. Initially, former titleholder Roman Reigns was to defend the strap in a Triple Threat match at the show.

However, Reigns was diagnosed with leukemia and forced to relinquish the title. Strowman and Lesnar collided for the vacant title in one of Crown Jewel’s premiere bouts. Prior to the match starting, acting Raw General Manager Baron Corbin hit Strowman with the title in the back of the head. Lesnar hit Strowman with several F5s, but he continued to kick out.

Finally, Lesnar hit a fifth F5 on “The Monster Among Men,” putting him down for good. Lesnar picked up the three count and is once again your WWE Universal Champion. It will be interesting to see how frequently the Universal Title is featured on Raw considering Lesnar is gearing up for a UFC return in January. We’ll keep you posted…
