WWE didn’t use women during WrestleMania 35 promo in Saudi Arabia

The cultural differences in Saudi Arabia present WWE with some issues promotion-wise. WWE traveled to the middle east for their Crown Jewel event yesterday, on a card that featured no females. That’s due to the cultural differences in the country, however, it also brings about accusations of hypocrisy towards WWE with their pushing of the Women’s Evolution. To add even more fuel to the fire, many were suggesting WWE pull out of Crown Jewel already, due to the recent capture and murder of a Saudi journalist.

Despite this, WWE pushed on with the show they had agreed to perform several months in advance. During the program, however, Deadspin reporter David Bixenspan noted something interesting. WWE aired a promo for WrestleMania 35 during the show. It was similar to the one WWE had been airing earlier on that week, however, there was one glaring difference. The one aired at Crown Jewel featured no women.

Bixenspan posted a video comparison of the two commercials, showing the absence of WWE’s women in one:

“Hmm, there’s a difference between the WrestleMania promo that aired on Raw/SmackDown and the one from , which is inset…something’s missing, some kind of de-evolution. Can’t put my finger on it, though.”

While the women were left off the WrestleMania promo, they weren’t completely blacklisted from the show. A graphic for Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch at Survivor Series was shown during the show. The crowd offered a huge response to it as well.
