WATCH: Cody Rhodes defended IWGP United States Title against Joey Ryan in staring contest

Both IWGP United States Champion Cody Rhodes and Joey Ryan are dealing with injuries at the moment. As a result, neither man was able to compete at their World Series Wrestling booking this week. Rhodes is dealing with a torn meniscus in his knee that he’s rehabbing. He won’t undergo surgery until after his match with Jay Lethal at ROH’s December 14th pay-per-view and after his to-be-announced bout at Wrestle Kingdom 13.

Ryan has a torn left pectoral muscle that will require surgery to repair. Although Cody and Ryan weren’t able to compete inside the ring, they still held a meet and greet with fans at the show. They also did a segment with each other during the event as well. Cody defended his IWGP US Title against Ryan in a staring contest.

It looked like things were pretty even until Brandi Rhodes came out and distracted Ryan, costing him the match. You can check out the full segment here:
