The narrative from Sunday’s Survivor Series pay-per-view was Monday Night Raw took home a clean 6-0 sweep over SmackDown Live. However, that’s not exactly true. On the kickoff show, WWE held a Tag Team Elimination match that SmackDown Live actually won. The Usos, The New Day, Sanity, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, and The Colons defeated Bobby Roode and Chad Gable, The Revival, The B-Team, Lucha House Party, and The Ascension.
Interestingly enough, WWE did not count this match towards the tally between Raw and SmackDown Live. Per Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, this might have been a mistake. Meltzer reports that the rumors going around backstage is The Usos won the match due to a miscommunication.
Vince McMahon wanted Monday Night Raw to win the night with a clean sweep over SmackDown. However, something was lost in translation with the agent producing the match, and The Usos won for SmackDown. This would explain why the kickoff show didn’t count towards the Raw vs. SmackDown Live tally.
